I have a couple of those in my yard, and it is fall. The other day she looks down and says "Mommy, it is so sad, this wish is dead" Ah to be that innocent again :) ~ D ~ September 16 Torment in disguise - Orlando
I am a HUGE Disney fan. I have never been to Orlando, so the news that I get to go there for a conference next week should be good. *Should Be* In reality I am there for a conference that has me booked the whole time; 9 hours days, at the end of which I have to take 2 Certification tests. They will not send any of the study materials before hand, and several people who have taking the test expressed that the wording is very confusing. Figures :) The conference is actually at one of the Disney resorts, so every second I will see people coming and going from all the different parks and I will be STUDYING. It is inhumane, really. I think I have arranged 1 - 1.5 days to spend at the parks. The thing is how to decide which ones to go to? I am thinking Disney's wild Kingdom (full day) and Epcot (.5 day). I have been to Disneyland, so Disney World is not my first choice. However, I would like to see the Cinderella castle. Any advice? Tormented, ~ d ~ September 10 We did have a birthday party to celebrateSo John did take Hardware Junkie up on his advice and we had a really fun party. I really appreciate everyone who came, many traveled far to make it, and it was very special. In case you are wondering, staple guns are essential to parties that are outside in case there is a hurricane that day (there was BTW). Having plates stapled to the table works well to keep food in place but makes clean up difficult. On a sad note for me, it is apparent that some friends no longer reciprocate friendship. I make an effort every year to send a happy birthday note to them despite not hearing from them. I sent invitations to my birthday and received no response at all. No sorry we can't make it or even a brief happy birthday. So raise a toast for me, that 40 will prove to be more happy then the last couple. ~ D ~ September 06 Castles for HillbilliesI am having this insomniatic mania to blog, so here it goes !! The birthday girl was expressing interest in solving the worlds housing issues. Her new theory goes something like this “ We should build a huge castle where everyone in the world would have their own room. Especially the homeless people* and hillbillies**” No idea why (insomniatic mania?), but this reminded me of a bumper sticker that caught my attention the other day: “Republicans for Voldemort***” Which leads me to my last thought, I think it is obvious why … Don’t tell Ramina, but I am actually eyeing a republican that I may think about considering not voting against in the up coming elections****. signed by one very sleepy, ~ d ~ * no offense meant to home deprived people by comparing them to hillbillies ** I did not point out that we need extra yard space for the rusting heaps some hillbillies mistake for yard decor *** I added a link to wikipedia on Voldemort in case you don’t know. However, if you really don’t know you are most likely at the wrong blog, because, well, it is Voldemort. Shhh…. don’t say his name again. **** Yes that was worded in a way that could potentially mislead the reader and cause more confusion. You can blame the republican party this year for messing with my mind. September 05 From newborn to Tween in 60 secondsToday is K's 11th birthday. I suspect that every mom reflects back to the day their child was born on birthdays. The experience is so different with each child. The day K was born was the same day as Princess Diana's funeral. I held my newborn child and admired how Princess Diana had been one of the great Mother Role Models. I hoped at the time that I could be as dedicated to my children. I have to say that has not happened. I don't think anyone can say I don't love my children as much as any other mother. I just have so many other things going on in my life. I have always been career focused, and now that I am a single mom don't have much of a choice. If I stayed home and dedicated my self to raising my kids, what would life be like now? How would my kids lives be different? Other then broke, because then I would be a single mom with limited career options :) ~ D ~ September 04 40 and BLONDE!Time to face some hard truths I am blonde and 40 At this point you are either rolling on the floor laughing or so shocked you are re-reading the first two lines
Things to note:
Explaining that I am 40 clears up some of the odd looks :) In dire situations I have to play the single mom of 3 card This changes the looks to pity and the subject drops Occasionally the person acts like 40, blonde, and single mom are contagious and moves to a distance where we can continue conversing in our outside voices ~ D ~
August 08 40 is LoomingOK, I admit it, I am not turning 29 again. I am turning FORTY. I really thought I would have my life more together at this point, but certain things seem to have gotten in my way.
To have a party or not? For a while I thought I would, it is FORTY after all. Now it just seems too late to plan anything. Is three weeks too little time to plan?
